Last year I discussed the advantages of negative gearing within a Hybrid Trust and the ‘new’ approach of the ATO when dealing with this.

In the afternoon of March 1st, 2010 a bushfire started near the friary in Perth, Australia and grew quickly. It jumped the main road and approached our backyard. We decided to evacuate the friary. We took the Blessed Sacrament, a few liturgical items of worth, a few personal items (passports, etc.) and the computers and loaded up the cars. We turned on the lawn sprinklers on the side facing the fire, closed all windows and doors, placed a statue of Our Lady to watch over the fire and drove down the road to a safe distance to wait it out. Roads were blocked by the police. After noticing that the smoke in the immediate area of the friary had died down and after the police told us the friary was ok, we went to a benefactors house for something to eat and drink only to be allowed back onto the property around 10:00pm. Damage was limited to a few sheds in the area, but no homes or loss of life and about 47 hectares (115 acres) burned.

(Mar 22.)Homes have been damaged, power knocked out and hail the size of golf balls has fallen as a sudden storm swept across the Perth metropolitan area.
Dozens of sets of traffic lights have been knocked out by the storm and roads north and south of the city have been flooded.
There are widespread reports of property damage caused by rain, strong winds and hail.
Twenty people had to be evacuated from the emergency department at Joondalup Hospital in Perth’s northern suburbs after parts of the ceiling caved in.
A spokesman for the hospital says there is significant flooding and damage to the ceiling.
The storm’s trail of destruction extends from Joondalup down through the western suburbs and further south to Mandurah.

A WILD storm has caused chaos across Perth, cutting power to thousands, flooding homes, damaging cars and setting off a landslide in Kings Park.
Golf-ball sized hailstones pelted the city from 4pm, smashing roofs and cars while flash flooding closed trains stations, schools, roads and shopping centres.

A landslide has partly destroyed Jacobs Ladder in Mounts Bay Rd, damaging an apartment block.
“There has been a landslide at Jacobs Ladder in Mounts Bay Road area in Perth city and part of it has collapsed,” the Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokesman Chris Lawson said.

“Reconnaissance is being conducted in the area by Fire and Rescue Service crews and Urban Search and Rescue specialists.
“An adjacent apartment was affected. Some evacuations have taken place.”
By 8pm, 158,000 homes were without power across most of the metropolitan area.
“Western Power recorded 300 hazard incidents including many downed power lines, trees in lines, leaning poles, poles down and poles struck by cars,” a company spokesman said.
“Lightning was a major cause of damage for the network.
“With the lightning and the number of wires down it is not safe for Western Power to start switching – sending power via alternate routes – until visual inspections can be done at first light.
“Many customers without power are expected to stay off overnight. Many properties could be without power for up to several days.
“Western Power has many wires down and urges people to stay away from any fallen powerlines.”

Question: Its Platinum Barney here. Im paranoid of ATO auditors. I already received one of those awful Personal Services Income ATO desk Audit notices in the mail whats next? Are they watching me? Are they peering through the key-hole while I shower? I bought new property A this year for my SMSF. And I have another property B that is due to settle before June 30. But I owe people some money. For asset protection reasons, I dont want these properties in my name. Do you have documents that can prove these properties are held by my SMSF (and not by me)?
