(Mar 22.)Homes have been damaged, power knocked out and hail the size of golf balls has fallen as a sudden storm swept across the Perth metropolitan area.
Dozens of sets of traffic lights have been knocked out by the storm and roads north and south of the city have been flooded.
There are widespread reports of property damage caused by rain, strong winds and hail.
Twenty people had to be evacuated from the emergency department at Joondalup Hospital in Perth’s northern suburbs after parts of the ceiling caved in.
A spokesman for the hospital says there is significant flooding and damage to the ceiling.
The storm’s trail of destruction extends from Joondalup down through the western suburbs and further south to Mandurah.

Can I withhold an ex housemate’s share of the bond as he has opted to leave before the contract ended?

We (the remaining tenants) feel that because we are paying for his room(going on 4 months now), his share of the bond should be forfeited as he left without securing another tenant to replace him (in which case the incoming tenant would pay him his share of the bond) which resulted in us footing the rent for his room.
FYI
1)his share of the bond has been signed over to us and Ray White has been notified. He is demanding we return the bond to him but we feel that we should be compensated for the rent we paid on his behalf.
2)We are in Perth, WA.

Well the deposit (or bond) is on the apartment NOT the person so he has no right to it. You all put it down together & just because he decided to leave doesn’t mean that deposit goes anywhere. It stays on the unit until moveout at which point they determine what (if any) will be returned to you. That is up to you & your other roommate to decide if you want to throw him a bone & give him anything back which YOU SHOULDN’T. He has no legal right to it whatsoever. Tell him that when you receive his part of the past 4 month’s rent that you will give him back his portion of the deposit. He probably won’t fight you over that.
